Willow Weaving

The project explores willow weaving using a 6-axis robotic arm, reinterpreting a traditional craft technique through a contemporary digital fabrication approach. By controlling trajectories and applied forces, the system translates manual weaving gestures into robotic operations, preserving the material logic of willow while expanding its constructive potential.

Through a series of iterative tests and prototypes, the project investigates parameters such as material bending, minimum curvature radii, connection points, and structural stability. This process enables the identification of new spatial configurations and construction systems, where the collaboration between natural material and robotics opens possibilities for lightweight, adaptive, and highly expressive structures.
